This book brings together fourteen traditional puthi narratives alongside twelve palas drawn from the song-based traditions of ancient East Bengal, Rangpur, Mymensingh, and North Bengal. While puthis and gitikas differ in background and characterization, both are rooted in rhythmic, verse-driven storytelling rich in literary expression. Otibeguni’s aim has been to present these verse narratives in clear, flowing modern Bengali, maintaining their rhythmic integrity and preserving original names wherever possible, while making them accessible to today’s readers.
